Use Screen Time for a basic limit, Downtime for scheduled access, or an iPhone app blocker when a quick daily check-in turns into an hours-long session, without deleting your account.

You can block Genshin Impact on iPhone without deleting your account. Use Screen Time App Limits for a daily allowance, Downtime for a scheduled block, or a dedicated blocker when Genshin Impact needs to stay unavailable by default. Each method restricts access differently, so choose the smallest one that closes the loophole you actually have.
The pull here isn't one hook, it's several running at once. Daily commissions need clearing, resin caps out and quietly wastes potential progress if you don't spend it, and gacha banners rotate on a schedule that rewards checking in regularly. Each of these is small enough on its own to open the app "just for a minute," and any one of them can pull you into a much longer open-world session once you're actually in.
1. Open Settings, then tap Screen Time. If needed, turn on App & Website Activity. Tap App Limits, then Add Limit.
2. Select Genshin Impact. Open the Games category, select Genshin Impact, tap Next, choose the daily allowance, then tap Done. Selecting Genshin Impact on its own avoids sharing a limit with other apps you still need.
3. Know what happens when the limit is reached. iPhone shows a Screen Time limit screen, but an App Limit can be ignored by default. That's an easy override once you're mid-exploration or in the middle of an event, since stopping can feel like it wastes progress you already started.
Check that the App Limit applies to Genshin Impact itself. Open Settings > Screen Time > App Limits, tap the rule, and confirm Genshin Impact is selected and the days are correct. A category limit can behave differently from a limit on one specific app.
Do not confuse an override with a failed limit. If you see an Ignore Limit option, the limit has triggered as designed. It is an expected iPhone override, not proof the app was never restricted. See how to stop ignoring Screen Time limits if that override has become automatic for you.
The resin timer works against you. Resin regenerates on a fixed schedule whether or not you're playing, which creates a recurring reason to check in throughout the day so it doesn't overflow and go to waste, a pull a simple daily limit doesn't address.
Downtime blocks most apps during a scheduled period. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Downtime, choose Scheduled, and set the days and hours. This works well for a work block or bedtime, exactly when a quick commission check is most likely to expand into a long exploration session.
Turn on Block at Downtime for a real scheduled block. Apple lets Downtime show a reminder by default; with Block at Downtime enabled, restricted apps cannot open during that period. Apps in Always Allowed can remain available, so review that list if Genshin Impact is not behaving as expected.
Focus Mode is not a Genshin Impact blocker. Focus can silence notifications and reduce visual cues; it does not stop the app from opening directly.
| Approach | Good for | Weak point |
|---|---|---|
| Delete Genshin Impact | Removes immediate access on this iPhone. | Loses your account progress and can feel drastic if you're invested in the story or characters. |
| Screen Time app limit | Basic limits and awareness. | You can choose Ignore Limit, and it doesn't account for resin, commissions, or banners pulling you back throughout the day. |
| Fella | Blocking Genshin Impact by default. | Built for one 5-minute emergency unlock per session, not open-ended access. |
A dedicated blocker is useful when the game has several separate reasons to check in, not just one. Commissions, resin, and gacha banners each pull independently, which means a single daily limit often isn't enough to cover every trigger. A default-off rule removes all of them at once. If you are still choosing a tool, see our iPhone app-blocking options.
With Fella, add Genshin Impact to the apps you want blocked. It stays unavailable by default while the apps you did not select remain accessible.
Use the emergency unlock only for a practical need. Each blocking session includes one 5-minute emergency unlock, enough time to clear a specific task. When the five minutes end, Genshin Impact locks again automatically.
That is the trade-off. Fella is for stronger friction, not flexible schedules, or a way to clear daily commissions while staying blocked from longer exploration.
People who open the app for a quick task and lose track of the hours that follow. If daily commissions, resin, or a gacha banner keep turning into much longer sessions, that's the pattern Fella is built to interrupt.
People who still want to clear specific daily tasks. The emergency unlock gives you a window to do that without leaving Genshin Impact open and reachable all day.
People who've already tried app limits. If "Ignore Limit" became a habit of its own, a harder default is the next step.
Use Screen Time App Limits for a daily allowance, Downtime for a scheduled block, or a focused app blocker like Fella to keep Genshin Impact blocked by default with one 5-minute emergency unlock per session.
No. Fella blocks access to the app on your iPhone. Your account, characters, and progress are untouched, and you can still reach them during your one 5-minute emergency unlock per session.
Daily commissions, a resin cap that resets on a timer, and rotating gacha banners each create their own reason to open the app. What starts as clearing a two-minute daily task can lead into spending resin, checking a banner, or exploring further, none of which was the original plan.
Yes. Use App Limits for a daily allowance, or Downtime for scheduled hours. A reached App Limit can be ignored by default. Fella is a narrower blocker with one 5-minute emergency unlock per session.
Yes. You choose which apps Fella blocks. Genshin Impact can be on your list while other apps you rely on stay fully accessible.
No. Hiding an app changes where its icon appears, and muting notifications removes alerts. You can still open Genshin Impact from Search or the App Library unless you use an App Limit, Downtime, or an app blocker.
