Block Websites on iPhone

Block specific websites,
filter adult content, or use an allowlist.

iPhone Screen Time has a different website-setting path for each job: a Never Allow list for specific sites, adult-content filtering, or a small approved-site list for a managed device.

To block a specific website: go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, turn it on, then open App Store, Media, Web, & Games > Web Content > Limit Adult Websites. Tap Add Website under Never Allow and enter the URL.

This is website blocking. It does not block the installed iPhone app for the same service.

Choose the method that matches your goal

Block one or more specific websites: Choose Limit Adult Websites, then add each site under Never Allow. This is the right method for a distracting URL you want unavailable.

Filter adult content: Choose Limit Adult Websites without adding a custom site. This uses Apple’s adult-content filtering; it is not a guarantee that every unsuitable page will be caught.

Allow only selected sites: Choose Only Approved Websites and add the sites that should remain available. This is the most restrictive option, usually best for a child’s device or a deliberately narrow setup.

Block a specific website on iPhone

1. Open Content & Privacy Restrictions. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, then turn it on.

2. Open Web Content. Tap App Store, Media, Web, & Games > Web Content.

3. Choose Limit Adult Websites. This option also exposes Apple’s custom Never Allow list.

4. Add the website. Tap Add Website below Never Allow and enter the URL of the site you want to block.

5. Protect and test the setup. Set a Screen Time passcode if someone else should not be able to change the restriction. For a child, select the child in Family Screen Time before following the same restriction path. Test the exact web address you want to restrict.

Limits to know before you rely on it

One service can use several addresses. A site may have a main domain, subdomains, regional pages, or other related web addresses. Add the addresses you actually need to restrict and test them.

Allowlisting can break useful pages. An approved site may depend on separate sign-in, payment, help, video, or content domains. Add only what is necessary and test normal use.

Website restrictions are not app restrictions. Blocking a website does not block an installed iPhone app. If you need both, use a separate app-control method as well.

Self-managed Screen Time can be changed. A Screen Time passcode helps protect settings, but the person who controls the passcode and recovery options controls the restriction.

For a child’s iPhone

On the parent or organiser’s iPhone, go to Settings > Screen Time and choose the child under Family. Turn on Content & Privacy Restrictions, then use Web Content to choose Limit Adult Websites or Only Approved Websites.

Only Approved Websites is the better fit when the child should use a short, intentional website list. Use Limit Adult Websites plus Never Allow entries when the device otherwise needs general web access.

If you need to restrict websites and apps

Use Web Content for websites. For installed iPhone apps, use Screen Time App Limits or another app-control method. Fella blocks selected iPhone apps, not websites, so it is only relevant if you need both kinds of restriction. See how to block iPhone apps without deleting them.
